THALAZUR Carnac – Thalassotherapy and Ocean Wellbeing Spa

THALAZUR Carnac is an emblematic destination reinvented: 4,500 m² of thalassotherapy and spa, blending ancestral marine treatments with the latest generation of hydrotherapy technology, and a 2,500 m² relaxation area with a mineral design inspired by the Atlantic Ocean. This wellbeing resort, gradually reopening since November 2025 after 18 months of complete renovation financed by a 45 million euro investment, offers total regenerating immersion: heated seawater pools indoors and outdoors, a 290 m² marine circuit, an open-air jacuzzi, a Japanese sauna, Thalgo and Payot treatment rooms, 6-day cures and personalised wellbeing stays. This private thalassotherapy centre and spa is operated by the Thalazur chain of the Louvre Hotels Group, making it an independent establishment and tourism partner of Carnac and Quiberon Bay. It is the largest Thalazur centre in France, with the 4-star Hôtel Escale and its 200 rooms and suites, restaurants, bar and lounge. Created in 1978, the first thalassotherapy centre in Morbihan, the centre has almost 50 years of experience. This 45 million euro investment represents an ambitious, complete metamorphosis in line with the environmental values of Green Morbihan and an ecological certification for sustainable development.

The Carnac thalasso was created in 1978 by Pierre Le Baud: the first thalassotherapy centre in Morbihan. Bought by the Thalazur group in 2017, it became its 9th establishment.

The shift towards wellbeing began in 1980 with a gradual transition to mainstream wellness, rest and relaxation, and cosmetic treatments. The takeover by the Thalazur group in 2017 placed the centre within a network of 9 establishments along the Atlantic coasts of France.

The 2023–2025 renovation is a major turning point. After 18 months of complete renovation financed by a 45 million euro investment, the centre has reopened fully renovated, with the works completed at the end of 2025: the 4-star Hôtel Escale with 200 rooms and suites, plus the thalasso and spa, confirming the centre’s status as the largest Thalazur in France.

Environmental values are at the heart of this rebirth. The centre holds Green Morbihan certification, committing to sustainable development, strict energy standards and respect for the ocean.

🏊 4,500 m² of thalassotherapy and spa

The integrated thalassotherapy institute

THALAZUR Carnac offers a complete specialised hydrotherapy area combining ancestral maritime traditions with current technology. Hydrotherapy baths offer immersion in heated seawater, while marine jet showers provide precise therapeutic treatment. Marine rain massages deliver a fine 37°C rain for muscle relaxation. Seaweed wraps complete the experience on specialised floating beds. The 60 m² treatment pool welcomes cure guests, while chromotherapy uses colour to enhance the hydromassage baths.

The exclusive treatment rooms offer personalised sessions of 15 to 50 minutes. They use the prestigious Thalgo and Payot brands, French leaders in marine skincare. Three-salt marine scrubs last 15 minutes, while marine rain and Swedish body massages ease tension. Facial treatments combine anti-ageing, radiance and hydration. Complete 60 to 90-minute spa rituals offer total immersion, and duo rooms let couples enjoy simultaneous massages.

The complete thermal area includes an individual Japanese sauna with dry heat and aromatherapy, a hammam offering hot, humid steam at 50°C, bubbling baths with hot-water hydromassage, and a tea room serving relaxing herbal infusions.

Complementary expert treatments include physiotherapy with medical follow-up and rehabilitation, osteopathy for spinal and joint manipulation, cryotherapy in a cold chamber at -120°C, sophrology and mindfulness meditation, and Chinese medicine acupuncture.

The 2,500 m² marine spa – integrated relaxation zone

The heated seawater pool is a 25-metre, Olympic-standard pool kept at 32°C all the time. Heated seawater is available all year round for hotel guests and day visitors. The seasonal outdoor pool is added from April to September, with heated seawater under the open sky, a panoramic view facing the ocean and an ideal atmosphere for relaxation.

The 290 m² marine circuit is a genuine therapeutic course. It includes floating aquabed massage loungers in the water, a geyser with a powerful vertical jet of hot water, lateral underwater jets, a counter-current lane for stationary swimming, a swan-neck cascade with scented jet, hydromassage seats with water bubbles, pedijets for massaging the feet and legs, and a cobra water blade with a powerful shiatsu-style jet.

The open-air jacuzzi offers a whirlpool bath with heated water and bubbles, available from April to September. It can seat 6 to 8 people in a family configuration. The relaxation and rest areas include a completely quiet rest room, a solarium with loungers facing the ocean and a panoramic view, and a tea room serving hot and cold infusions.

The fitness area offers complete cardio-training equipment, weight training with free weights and machines, group classes in aquagym, yoga and pilates, and personal training with individual coaching.
