2027 Tide Tables for Carnac: Spring Tides and Shore Fishing
In Carnac, the sea recedes twice a day, revealing a vast foreshore of sand and rocks. In 2027, the year’s highest tide will occur on Thursday, September 2, with a tidal coefficient of 112. The beaches at Beaumer and Men-Dû are 500 m from Camping Les Druides: here are the dates to note, the times of the season’s high tides, and the rules for safe shore fishing.
⚠️ The times listed in this article are SHOM forecasts for the port of La Trinité-sur-Mer—the closest port to Carnac—in local time. Wind and atmospheric pressure may cause variations; always check the day’s tide schedule before heading out. The campground provides this information; it does not organize beachcombing trips or water sports activities.
🌊 Understanding the Tides in Carnac
On the Atlantic coast, there are two high tides and two low tides each day, about six hours apart. The interval between them varies depending on the positions of the Moon and the Sun.
A tidal range of more than 5.5 m during the highest tides: On September 2, 2027, the sea will rise to 5.88 m in La Trinité-sur-Mer and fall to 0.26 m.
About 2 m at neap tides: when the tidal range is small, the sea moves very little and most of the foreshore remains covered.
📏 The tidal coefficient
The coefficient, calculated by SHOM for the Port of Brest, measures the magnitude of the tide along the entire Atlantic coast. It ranges from 20 to 120.
Around 45: average neap tide; the sea recedes only slightly.
Around 95: moderate high tide; the foreshore is largely exposed.
Above 100: This is commonly referred to as a spring tide. The sea recedes very far, then rises quickly.

🎣 Shore fishing: choosing the right time
The best time to go out combines a high tidal range with low tide in the middle of the day, such as August 4 or September 2, 2027. Head out onto the foreshore before low tide. As the SNSM reminds us, the signal to head back is low tide: the return trip always takes longer than the trip out.

🛟 Your Safety on the Foreshore
⏰ Check the low tide time and the tidal range before you go.
👥 Don't go out alone, and let a loved one know where you're going.
🌊 Watch for rising water levels and be wary of fog.
📱 Make sure your phone is charged. Emergency at sea: 196. From the beach: 112.
🧊 Avoid fishing after heavy rain, keep your shellfish refrigerated, and eat them within 24 hours.
🚣 Swimming, sailing, and walks, depending on the tide
At low tide, the water recedes and the beaches get wider. When the tidal range is high, the water comes back in quickly: stay above the high-tide line and keep an eye on the children. In July and August, Carnac’s Grande Plage is patrolled.
For sailing and kayaking, departure times are often based on the tides: check with the Carnac Yacht Club or at the port of La Trinité-sur-Mer. On foot, the Customs Officers’ Trail (GR34) runs along the coast and offers beautiful views of the foreshore. All the beaches in the area are featured in our guide, “Beaches of Carnac and La Trinité-sur-Mer.”
