The GR34 coastal path and hiking trails
The GR34 coastal path takes you on a tour of Brittany from Vitré (Ille-et-Vilaine) to Tour-du-Parc (Morbihan).
It runs along almost the entire Breton coastline, for no less than 1800 km from the Mont Saint Michel to Tour du Parc (a few kilometres from the border between the Morbihan and Loire-Atlantique).
Carnac’s path follows the southern coast and islands mostly along former customs paths. These paths, which were gradually abandoned in the first half of the 20th century, were used by customs officers to patrol the coast from their guard houses which are located on key observation points along the Breton coastline.
The path stretches for 125 km between Vannes and the Quiberon peninsula and the customs path runs along Carnac and La Trinité Sur Mer’s beaches.
Some of the marked hiking trails take you around Carnac, inland and on the coast.
